Guilty By Association

When parents fight with each other for custody and visitation over the kids, the grandparents also lose out. We already know that the child suffers the most during contentious dissolutions and another means of suffering is the loss of another loving adult in their life. Kids need all of the stability and security they can get and even more so when parents split up, so what happens.... the parents are so busy battling each other that they focus more on their anger than on the welfare of the child’s emotional needs. It’s almost as if they love the anger more than their kid. That’s the way they behave at least. The parents create an empty spot in the child’s life when for instance the custodial parents refuses to allow access to the non-custodial parent and then punishes grandma as well.
