If you happen to have a brief encounter with one of the parents, whether it be via email or a chance meeting in public, don’t wait too long to followup. If the parents are keeping you away and then you happen to run into them at the market, maybe the kids, are with them so they are amicable, and act like nothing has happened, and you just want to hug the kids, so you keep your mouth shut, then what happens next? You follow up, you call you email, you do something rather than nothing to keep things moving in the right direction. When contact is made you make sure that it’s all about the parents and mending those fences rather than focusing on the kids.
